Karnataka Kala Kendra is a school of media and arts, promoting media and the cultural heritage of India. The school aims to identify, appreciate, re-create art forms in Karnataka and promote them for social interaction, national integration and transformation.To achieve this, Karnataka Kala Kendra conducts full-time and part-time courses in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic and Hindustani classical singing, Eastern and western instrumental music and fine arts.Objectives
- To study local and indigenous art forms presently in use in Karnataka in various spheres of human life such as social, cultural and religious, and promote them so that they can accelerate human development and foster human values.
- To conduct regular certificate/diploma courses in traditional dance and folk arts for students irrespective of their caste, creed, race or economic affiliation.
- To research, document and serve as a forum for exchange of information with regard to traditional and modern dance forms, folk arts, folklore and other forms of cultural expressions.
- To undertake production of material on people's art forms for education and thus facilitate community development.
- To co-operate and collaborate with artists and other organizations, institutions and individuals involved in the pursuit of people's development.
- To conduct training programmes in youth leadership, journalism, yakshagana etc. and to invite learned resource persons to conduct these programmes.
- To provide a forum for exchange of views through Kaladarshini programmes.
- To institute awards for excellence in arts, education and media programmes.
